The importance of role play
- As well as feeding the imagination and encouraging empathy, roleplay is a powerful way of developing social skills.
- Recall and extend special moments in your favourite Monkey stories by using them appropriately in real life situations.
- It's worth putting together a simple dressing up box of Monkeys and other animals for your child.
- All children need their own space and privacy, particularly in the area of role play.
- Children who are comfortable with roleplay delight in giving performances for family and friends on special occasions like birthdays or Christmas'.
- Role reversal is fun for young children, particularly when it involves becoming Mum or Dad for a while.
- A very important aspect of role play is the function it plays in socialisation - encouraging friendship through cooperation, listening and turn taking.

Colour Awareness |
Use the colouring in template to explore the world of colours |
- Children make sense of the world around them by using their senses: tasting, touching, seeing, hearing and smelling.
- As their world broadens, the other senses become important, such as feeling and tasting, especially when they are toddlers.
- You can extend and broaden your child's experiences by exploring and investigating your local environment using the appropriate senses.
- Go for outings with a definite finding out agenda. Use the Monkey March you are attending to have an education benefit to the children.
- Children can also explore making their own colour chart of tones and shades.
- Talk to the children about what they have created
